Family Legacy: FDNY Promotes Granddaughter To Battalion Chief Post
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Battalion Chief Michelle Fitzsimmons has become only the second woman in FDNY history to achieve that rank.
Fitzsimmons was promoted to battalion chief during Thursday's ceremony on Randall's Island.
She has a long history with the fire department. Not only has she already served 19 years but her grandfather, the late Michael Fitzsimmons, was also a FDNY battalion chief.
