Police: 10-Year-Old Slashed In Face By Woman In Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A young child was injured in a slashing in Manhattan on Saturday.

It happened at the Frederick Douglass Houses on West 104th Street around 2 p.m.

The 10-year-old was slashed by a 45-year-old woman who fled the scene after the incident, according to police.

Police say the boy was left with a cut down his face to his neck.

The child is being treated at a local hospital. He is expected to be OK.

No word on what prompted the attack or if the woman even knew the child.
