Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont Signs Legislation Legalizing Sports Betting, Federal Approval Still Needed

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Gov. Ned Lamont signed legislation Thursday that would legalize sports wagering and online gambling in Connecticut.

It's the last step needed before federal approval.

The U.S. Department of Interior now has to sign off on an amended gambling compact between Connecticut and the state's two tribal nations.

Proponents are hopeful sports betting will be legal by this fall.
