New Seat Belt Law Goes Into Effect In Connecticut

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A new seat belt law goes into effect in Connecticut on Friday.

It requires everyone to buckle up, including all passengers in the back seats.

Previously, rear seat belts were only required for passengers under 16.

Drivers can't be pulled over just because someone isn't buckled up, but if stopped for another reason, the driver and passengers can be fined.
