Spring is officially here, and it’s the best time for outdoor activities such as cycling, sightseeing and running. Public Prep Memorial Day 5K & 10K

If you’ve never participated in a race –or visited Roosevelt Island — you’re in for a treat. Public Prep along with NYC Runs will host a 5K and 10K Memorial Day run. The run will support Public Prep’s cause to provide educational resources and support for students in pre-k to 8th grade. Public Prep’s also have a unique partnership with NY’s 529 College Savings Program, which educates students’ families about the importance of college savings. If you’re ever in Camden Park Plaza, you’ve probably noticed or passed by the memorial dedicated to those lost their lives during the World War II. The Brooklyn Bridge Memorial Run is inspired by the memorial’s dedication to remembrance, and gives an opportunity for you and your friends to take part in what is expected to be an unforgettable run. You’ll start at Foley Square, run through Downtown Brooklyn past Borough Hall and Columbus Park and finish at the Brooklyn War Memorial. Join NYRR and Front Runners New York for a competitive 5-mile race for LGBT runners, multi-athletes and their allies. This year, a portion of the proceeds benefits GLSEN, INC- the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Join the “We Run For Hope” effort in honor of National Cancer Survivors Day, which is honored on June 5. This is a timed race and all registered participants will receive a goodie bag and race bib. All participants can raise funds for SHARE (Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer) and/or other cancer charities. Those who don’t want to participate in the race can still take part in the effort through fundraising for the event.
