As busy New Yorkers, sometimes there’s not enough time to eat a decent breakfast. Here are five places where you can grab everything from a hearty egg sandwich to fluffy funfetti-inspired pancakes. By Carly Petrone.
Colazione All’Americana Breakfast Panini at Eataly
As if we needed another reason to love Eataly, now you can pick up a delicious breakfast panini from 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. All of these pressed-to-order sandwiches are made on housemade ciabatta with your choice of local eggs and meats as well as Italian salumi and formaggio. For less than $5, you can bite into the Aosta – two eggs with beefsteak tomato, thyme, and fontina Val d’Aosta DOP cheese. A few bucks more will get you the Parma or Firenze panini. The first is made with two eggs with prosciutto Cotto and fontina Val d’Aosta DOP cheese while the second comes with two eggs, house-made Hampshire pork and sage sausage and Sini Fulvi Cacio de Roma cheese. Finally, if you’d like a non-egg option, definitely try the New York PLT – Nodine’s uncured pancetta, wild arugula, beefsteak tomato, and house-made aioli. Pair your meal with a fresh cup of Lavazza espresso and make your way out before you buy everything else in the store.
Birthday Pancakes at The Pavilion
If you have time to sit down before heading to work, it’s worth waiting for the fluffy stack of colorful Funfetti-inspired Birthday Pancakes at The Pavilion. Not only are they delicious (and extremely Instagram-worthy) but they’re also topped with blueberry compote and accompanied by a complimentary basket of beignets. You’ll probably walk away feeling like it was your birthday after eating these sweet, doughy layers of happiness.
Ship’s Biscuit at Saltie
Stop into Saltie in Brooklyn for an egg sandwich that will blow your mind. Although the Ship’s Biscuit is literally only made with three ingredients – soft scrambled eggs, fresh ricotta and house-made focaccia – the combination is right on the money. Speaking of money, make sure you bring some because this place is cash only.
Egg & Cheddar Bomb at Milk Bar
If you’re looking for a quick bite then definitely try the Egg & Cheddar Bomb at Milk Bar. This bagel ball is filled with an organic baked egg omelet, Sriracha cream cheese, and topped with cheddar cheese and Spanish onion. At just $4, it’s a small price to pay for a lot of flavor. They’re also serving Bagel Bombs (also $4) – bagel dough filled with smoky bacon scallion cream cheese and topped with everything bagel spice. Grab a Cereal Milk White Hot Chocolate or Miso Butterscotch Chai for the road and get your day started off right.
Breakfast Sandwich or Burrito at Dimes
In the mood for something spicy? The breakfast sandwich ($7.50) at Dimes is a great option. A heap of scrambled eggs, cheddar, avocado, pickled jalapenos, and Dimes hot sauce nestled between Doppio bread? This sandwich is the answer to your hearty breakfast prayers. If you’d rather have something all wrapped up, opt for their breakfast burrito. It’s spicy yet sweet, thanks to the addition of mango salsa and Dimes hot sauce. It also comes with scrambled eggs, cheddar, sweet potato and avocado. Yum!
