Thanksgiving may be an all-American holiday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give your meal a Cuban twist. Havana Central’s Pumpkin Pie Empanada is filled with pumpkin puree, vanilla wafers, cinnamon, brown sugar, nutmeg. This comforting dessert will add some fun to your traditional dinner table this holiday.
Momofuku Milk Bar’s Thanksgiving croissant is back, but don’t wait to get yours – these babies sell out fast. One of the most popular pastries in New York City, the holiday treat has earned accolades from foodie bibles Time Out NY, Eater NY, and Midtown Lunch. White meat turkey, dark meat turkey, gravy and cranberry sauce are stuffed inside flaky croissant dough for a delicious sweet and savory nosh.

Now onto the sweet stuff. First up: Pumpkin Cheesecake. Eileen’s, the beloved bakery with a fiercely loyal following, serves up a lighter and fluffier version than the Junior’s variety. For the holidays, the pumpkin cheesecake is creamy and not too sweet. A richer, more fulfilling take on pumpkin pie.

New York City’s favorite chocolate shop is known for whipping up delectable treats for every occasion, and Thanksgiving is no exception. The molded chocolate turkeys are becoming a traditional favorite. Made of milk or dark chocolate, the are the perfect dessert to bring to your Thanksgiving gathering. Or try a pack of Jacques’ creamy and indulgent buttery caramels in flavors like vanilla, coffee, chocolate and hazelnut.
Stuffing is Thanksgiving’s favorite side dish, and now it’s a holiday dessert, as well. The November Cookie of the Month at Downtown Cookie Co. is called Stuffing and it’s got just that in it – real stuffing (no poultry, of course), cranberries and cinnamon for an unconventional yet satisfying sweet and savory dessert. The bake shop doesn’t have a storefront yet, but you can order a batch for delivery or stop by one of the NYC coffee shops where Downtown Cookie Co. is sold. These also make a great gift idea, as you can order a batch online to ship them to family members you’ll miss this holiday season around the country.
We’d be remiss to mention pumpkin pie and not include Brooklyn favorite Four and Twenty Blackbirds. For Thanksgiving, they’ll be offering whole pies – Brown Butter Pumpkin, Salted Honey, Salted Caramel Apple, and Bittersweet Chocolate Pecan by placing your order online. They will also have a limited number of whole pies for sale on a first come first served basis starting at 8am on November 20 – 22.
Sundaes and Cones, founded in Bay Ridge in 1991, has been offering premium ice cream in the East Village since 2006. While they’re known for unique Asian flavors, like their popular Wasabi or Ginger, it’s their holiday seasonal flavors such as Pumpkin and Egg Nog, that will pair perfectly with your Thanksgiving pies.
