Shannon Gilbert has been missing for more than a year, but her friends and family have not given up hope.
“You know we have to keep this story out there,” family friend Michelle Cutler said at a vigil on Oak Beach, Long Island.
Cutler said despite the fact that they still don’t know Gilbert’s whereabouts, the birthday remains important.
“They need support and if I can help them do that, then that’s why I’m here,” she said.
