Police told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall that the two would drive around and when they saw packages delivered by UPS or the United States Postal Service, they would run up to the doorsteps and steal the holiday gifts.

"They said they stayed close to the home because they would return any medical supplies. They did not want to take medical supplies, but everything else was fair game," said Sgt. Wayne Hutzel.

Hutzel said at least 20 packages were stolen, but there could be more victims. He also said the two suspects tried to sell the stolen jewelry, electronics, DVDs and clothing.

Suffolk County Police arrested Colby Fiedler and Vincenzo Francese, both 19-years-old, on Tuesday at Fiedler's home.

They are both charged with three counts of criminal possession of stolen property. Francese was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Both were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 27.

Hutzel says one way to protect your packages is by asking your neighbors to bring them in for you if they're going to be delivered when you're not home.
