Fake Justin Bieber Accused Of Threatening, Sexually Abusing New Jersey Girl Online
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – A Canadian man has been arrested after prosecutors said he posed as Justin Bieber on Facebook before threatening and sexually abusing a 12-year-old New Jersey girl.
Lee Moir, 34, of Toronto, Ontario, allegedly tried to force the girl to perform sex acts on a video chat by threatening to hurt her family, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said.
Moir is also accused of threatening to post the videos on a porn website.
Authorities did not say if Moir used pictures of Bieber on his social networking page but said the girl realized he wasn’t the pop star during the video chat.
Moir was arrested after engaging in sexual conversations with an undercover who had posed as a 14-year-old girl, prosecutors said. He was apprehended on April 4 after arranging to meet the undercover officer.
Moir is believed to have been in contact with other young females in the United States, Canada, France, Australia and the Philippines using his Facebook and other online accounts with the usernames Lee Oneel, Lee Moir, YodaYoda01, and Justy.Beber1, according to officials.
Moir has been charged in Canada with luring, manufacturing child pornography and extortion.
