Long Island's MacArthur Airport Hopes To Increase Business
RONKONKOMA, NY (WCBS 880) - Right now, two million people a year fly in and out of MacArthur Airport on Long Island.

But the airport wants to double that number.
Islip town supervisor Phi Nolan told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall that they are trying to get other airlines with non-stop flights to places like Florida, Texas, Chicago, and Las Vegas.
Nolan says MacArthur already has a lot to offer.
"You don't have the interminable delays at Long Island MacArthur Airport. You just don't," says Nolan. "We have several minutes from the gate into the air, not several hours."
Nolan also touts the parking situation at MacArthur.
He says, "As our slogan says, flying from Long Island MacArthur is a breeze."
Right now, Southwest Airlines is the primary airline serving the airport. US Airways Express also flies through the airport.
They'd like to see airlines like JetBlue Airways, American Airlines, and Continental Airlines sign up.
In February, the FAA officially designated MacArthur as a New York City area airport.
