Jets' Holmes Shows Sanchez Some Love With Congratulatory Tweet

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Santonio Holmes and Mark Sanchez are back to being best buddies again -- or at least it seems that way.

The once disgruntled wide receiver congratulated his quarterback on his new contract extension on Monday via Twitter, saying, "Very happy for Mark & the entire team with his extension. Looking forward to getting back to work when I get back from this amazing trip."

The amazing trip that Holmes is referring to is his voyage to Africa, where he's there doing charity work.

Sanchez, who struggled at the end of last season yet received a three-year contract extension just days ago, was said to have a rocky relationship with Holmes last season. Jets coach Rex Ryan has gone on record saying that's not true.

In a possible effort to quell any speculation about their reported rift, Sanchez tweeted Holmes on Feb. 15, asking, "you want to be my Valentine?"

Several New York players spoke out regarding the toxicity in the Jets' locker room after the season concluded, pointing to the relationship between Holmes and Sanchez in particular.

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson said the turmoil was the worst he'd ever seen.

Holmes was benched in the final minutes against the Dolphins in Week 17 after a spat in the huddle, thought the Jets have said that they plan to retain the embattled 27-year-old wideout.

Can Holmes and Sanchez coexist next season, or has that ship simply sailed?
