L.I. Man Arrested In Connection With Manorville Park Death

MANORVILLE, NY (CBSNewYork) - Police say a Long Island man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a Central Islip woman's body in Suffolk County.

Matthew Kraus, 34, of Saint James is charged with dumping Pura Simancas' body in the park after police say he and Simancas injected heroin and took Xanax. The cause of Simancas' death is still under investigation.

The remains of Simancas, 45, were found in the woods at Manorville Hills County Park by a jogger on Wednesday. The body appeared to have been in a wooded area for "at least a week," Suffolk County police said Thursday.

Kraus was arraigned Friday.

Police said there is no apparent link between the remains and any other cases on Long Island in which human remains were found.
