A New Man: Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan Displays Noticeably Slimmed-Down Physique

NEW YORK (WFAN) - After a terribly disappointing 2011 season, Jets head coach Rex Ryan has exclaimed that he will be more hands-on this season, both with his defense and with the pulse of the overall football team.

Well he should certainly have some fresh energy for the upcoming campaign.

At the Jets' ALR Walk to Cure Lupus event this weekend, the 49-year-old showcased an incredibly slim physique (relatively speaking, of course.)

Gang Green's head coach since 2009, Ryan allegedly used to eat 7,000 calories a day (5,000 more than the recommended amount for a human being), according to the New York Post.

In 2010, in an effort to combat his unhealthy lifestyle, the former Ravens defensive coordinator underwent weight-loss surgery and lost an estimated 40 pounds.

What he did to shed pounds this offseason is up for debate, but one thing is for sure: Whatever he's been doing (or eating) is definitely working for him.

What do you think of Rex Ryan's slimmed-down frame? Does the outspoken coach lose some of his character and personality without the pounds? Offer your thoughts and comments below...
