NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — As Anthony Weiner campaigns for mayor, he has found himself featured in a decidedly non-family-friendly venue.
Weiner figures prominently in an exhibition at the Museum of Sex, at Fifth Avenue and 27th Street in the Flatiron District. The exhibit, “Universe of Desire,” includes words from a Facebook exchange between Weiner and Las Vegas blackjack dealer Lisa Weiss in which the former congressman touts his sexual prowess.
The focus of the exhibit explores the digital world of sexual desire, which has been on display since February.
“As human behavior becomes more clickable than physical, we can’t help but wonder what this means for our most basic, biological impulse: sex.” Mark Snyder, Director of Exhibitions and Co-Curator of “Universe of Desire” said in a museum news release. “The exhibition explores this very question by examining what we actually search for on the internet and what we leave behind.”
The exhibit encourages visitors to participate in a series of video and interactive experiences, including the “larger than life Facebook conversation” between Weiner and Weiss.
Museum curator Sarah Forbes called Weiner’s words “artifacts of sexuality.”
As the exhibit splashes across the headlines, Weiner is trying to live down a sexting scandal that ended in his career in Congress.
He resigned in 2011 after tweeting a lewd picture of himself and lying about his account being hacked. He later admitted trading inappropriate messages with several women.
Weiner is now at the front of a pack of mayoral candidates after admitting to “making mistakes and letting many people down.”
