NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The New York City Campaign Finance Board has levied nearly $65,000 in fines against Anthony Weiner for violations made during his 2013 mayoral bid.
Weiner received $1,652,075 in public funds during his run.
The NYCCFB found numerous violations of his use of the money. Among the various violations they found:
- Making impermissable post-election expenditures ($27,274 fine)
- Failing to demonstrate spending was in furtherance of the campaign ($22,031 fine)
- Accepting over-the-limit contributions ($8,652 fine)
- Converting campaign funds for a personal use ($2,308 fine)
In total, the NYCCFB hit Weiner with $64,956 in fines. Click here to see the complete list (.pdf).
The fine is in addition to the $195,377.79 of public funds left in his campaign bank account that he has to repay.
Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin has since separated from him.
