Brooklyn Teacher Accused Of Sexually Abusing 11-Year-Old Student

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A Brooklyn teacher is accused of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl.

Daniel Santiago, 29, was arrested Monday at MS 763, the Brooklyn Science and Engineering Academy, which shares a building with PS 244 in East Flatbush.

Police said he inappropriately touched the female student and sent her sexually explicit photos of himself.

The first incident allegedly took place on a school bus during a field trip. Two other incidents allegedly followed, including once in a classroom.

A social worker heard rumors about the incidents. An examination of the victim's phone allegedly turned up numerous text messages between her and Santiago.

Santiago was removed from his classroom last week after the allegations surfaced.

He's been charged with first degree sex abuse and has been ordered to stay away from the girl.

He lives in Nassau County with his wife and children.
