STUCK!
Earlier today we received a call from a sixth precinct officer regarding a doe that had been stuck between two fences, on her back, for 18 hours! The homeowner had no idea what the sound was that they started to hear the night before until they investigated earlier today.
Frankie arrived to find the doe between a PVC fence and a concrete wall. There was no way to lift her out so Frankie made a deal with the home owner that if he allowed him to saw part of the fence away that our organization would pay for any damages.
An honest mans handshake sealed the deal and Frankie called Erica to assist in the rescue.
Frankie cut a small portion which allowed everyone, officers included, to start pulling apart the slats to finally free her.
Once free she was extremely wobbly on her legs after hours upon hours being stuck upside down.
Frankie and Erica carried her to the front yard where they gave her 20 minutes to allow her to get her land legs back.
The home owners and officers moved their vehicles to allow her space to take off and within minutes she was off down the block towards a quiet sump.
We are so fortunate to work with some of the most caring long islanders and police officers in the world! We are honored to help where we can and keep animals and people safe!
