Congressman Weiner Officially Leaves Office Tuesday Night
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Anthony Weiner is officially joining the ranks of the unemployed. The disgraced New York congressman’s resignation letter, submitted Monday, states he will leave office at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday.
The letter ended with him writing “it has been an honor to serve the people of Queens and Brooklyn.”

Democrats started calling for the married father-to-be to step down after he became embroiled in a scandal over his sending explicit photos of himself and graphic messages to at least six women, including a former porn star.
Weiner’s next move remains unclear. He has received a number of job offers including an appearance on the HBO series “Entourage” and a writing gig for Hustler Magazine. Larry Flynt said he wants Weiner for his politics, not his Twitter pics, asking Weiner to become a political contributor for the magazine.
Job offers aside, what is most likely in Weiner’s future is some sort of work in politics.
During his resignation speech on June 16, he said, “I will be looking for other ways to contribute my talents, to make sure that we live up to that most of New York and American ideals.”
Election records show Weiner has more than $365,000 for a congressional re-election campaign and another $4.5 million reserved for a prospective campaign to become New York City mayor. But that money comes with limitations.
“Well, he can’t take it with him and go to Disneyland. It’s not, he’s not able to convert it to personal use,” said Ken Gross, campaign finance expert.
So it’s hard to say what Weiner will be doing next politically, but when it comes to his personal life, he has a lot to do.
“I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife Huma,” he said during his resignation speech Thursday. “Most importantly, my wife can continue to heal from the damage I’ve caused.”
Political allies have turned their backs on the disgraced congressman and now he must do everything he can so his wife doesn’t do the same.
New York Rep. Steve Israel said he advised Weiner that his resignation was best for him, his family and the country.
The couple reportedly headed to the Hamptons after Weiner resigned.
