NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Celebrities stopping by the Occupy Wall Street movement in lower Manhattan has become a common occurrence and another big name will be added to the list.
The 1960s protest singer is the third performer to put on a show for protesters this week. Activist musicians David Crosby and Graham Nash played a 4-song acoustic set on Tuesday.
Crosby and Nash also encouraged the protesters to continue to camp out and occupy the area.
There will be several other speakers at Friday’s Foley Square rally, which kicks off at 1 p.m. Organizers say they expect hundreds, if not thousands, to attend.
Meanwhile, other celebrities may be trying to cash in on the Occupy Wall Street movement.
According to published reports, Jay-Z is releasing a new line of T-shirts under his Rocawear brand that plays off the anti-Wall Street protest.
The shirt says “Occupy Wall Street” with the “w” of wall crossed out and an “s” added to the end of street so that it reads “Occupy All Streets.”
A representative for the clothing line reportedly said there was no plan to donate any money from the sales of those shirts to the Occupy Wall Street movement.
