Singer Joan Baez To Perform At Occupy Wall Street Rally In Foley Square

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Celebrities stopping by the Occupy Wall Street movement in lower Manhattan has become a common occurrence and another big name will be added to the list.

Organizers say Joan Baez will perform Friday afternoon at a Veterans Day rally in Foley Square.

The 1960s protest singer is the third performer to put on a show for protesters this week. Activist musicians David Crosby and Graham Nash played a 4-song acoustic set on Tuesday.

Crosby and Nash also encouraged the protesters to continue to camp out and occupy the area.

There will be several other speakers at Friday’s Foley Square rally, which kicks off at 1 p.m. Organizers say they expect hundreds, if not thousands, to attend.

Meanwhile, other celebrities may be trying to cash in on the Occupy Wall Street movement.

According to published reports, Jay-Z is releasing a new line of T-shirts under his Rocawear brand that plays off the anti-Wall Street protest.

The shirt says “Occupy Wall Street” with the “w” of wall crossed out and an “s” added to the end of street so that it reads “Occupy All Streets.”

A representative for the clothing line reportedly said there was no plan to donate any money from the sales of those shirts to the Occupy Wall Street movement.

The level of vitriol in these comments is astonishing. None of you should be proud of yourselves.

Americans blame the federal government more for the nation’s economic plight than they do the primary target of the Occupy Wall Street protests — big financial institutions. If you don’t know why people are protesting on wall street, this article gives a very good explanation on it.

Joan Baez is one of the few entertainers who has the credibility and insight to discuss politics, and she has more integrity than nearly anyone topping the charts these days. The fact that she is supporting Occupy Wall Street gives them a lot of credibility.

Yeah, Joan Baez is performing, it’s about time. That’s the best news I’ve heard. By the way, who’s Joan Baez?

What a dolt you are. If your sarcasm was in fact a truly innocent comment, I would suggest you merely google her name. Look up Pete Seeger, who attended a march, and Bob Dylan while you’re at it.

Joan Baez was an idiot in the 60’s and 40 years later, she is still an idiot, but I’m sure she needs to sell a few CD’s to remain in the 1%.

Joan Baez is a total loser.
