Gang Green Morning: Boomer & Carton Invade Jets Camp

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Boomer & Carton's Gang Green morning is over. And for Jets fans, what a show it was.

The WFAN duo of Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton took to the air live Thursday from Jets camp in Florham Park.

The most discussed, debated and covered franchise by far during training camp, the Jets have plenty of question marks heading into the 2012 season.

Will starting quarterback Mark Sanchez show something more in his fourth year? How long will it take fans to call for backup Tim Tebow if Sanchez falters? When will they unleash the wildcat-style offense? What's the word on shaky right tackle Wayne Hunter's job security?

During Wednesday's program, Carton vowed to "get the answers." He had his chance with Tebow, Sanchez, general manager Mike Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan among those on the hot seat.

The session started with new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, who wouldn't bite when asked about Hunter starting -- or not starting -- the opener on Sept. 9.

"I'm comfortable with whatever decision Rex makes," Sparano said.

"He's played some great football for us," said Ryan. "Did Wayne have a great year last year? No. But he wasn't the only one."

But the biggest -- and most intriguing -- question on Thursday didn't have anything to do with on-field strategy, locker room chemistry or player status: What will happen when Tebow sits down with Boomer & Carton?

Esiason made national headlines earlier this month when he said he'd cut the backup quarterback. The reaction was swift, strong and mostly pro-Tebow, but Esiason wouldn't back down. Carton hasn't been kind to the 25-year-old either.

It was vintage Tebow. He was affable, charming and didn't seem fazed at all by the criticism.

"I really try not to think about it," he said. "I just try to live my life day to day, meeting to meeting, practice to practice and, you know, stay focused on the little things and not worry about everything else -- what's in the tabloids, what's in the papers, what people are saying about me."
